You may be wondering what is "dyslexia". Trust me, I didn't know myself until we found out about this center in Ampang. It is better known as developmental reading disorder. This includes difficulty with processing speed, coding, auditory short-term memory and rapid naming. In an easier way to say it, those who suffer from dyslexia, words and numbers are often moving around and playing with each other on papers.
For example, this is how they read alphabets. We often complain that Add. Maths and Physics is hard, but is this not even more pitiful? That was why we chose a Dyslexia Center. We wanted to learn more about it and help those who suffer from this disorder. And boy I can tell you, we sure did learn a lot and had the time of our lives!
DID YOU KNOW???
Actor Tom Cruise, scientist Albert Einstein, artists Leonardo da Vinci and political leader George Washington also suffered from dyslexia?

Anyways, straight to the point, our club organised a trip and the response we got was amazing. Together with our teacher adviser, we went to the Dyslexia Center and spent a few solid hours there. We divided ourselves into groups and were assigned
to a few groups in which each group consists of around 6 interactors.

The interactors came up with exciting games and
activities to entertain the children. All the activities we organized were
educational and taught the children more about alphabets, colors and letters. The games held were all according to the levels of each student. For example, we taught level 1 students about numbers while level 3 students were taught alphabets and spellings. Presents and souvenirs for the children were also prepared as an encouragement to them. Not to leave out that we also donated cash and lots of stationery for them!

The
children were definitely having the time of their lives.Laughter could be heard from every classroom. A high-5 may mean nothing to you but for them, they get so excited when you give them a high-5. It is a kind of encouragement to them that they can also do the things we do. Most importantly, our interactors were able to spend quality time
with the children and at the same time learn more about dyslexia children. The Board of Directors were glad that the junior interactors learnt the real meaning of " Service Above Self".

This was no doubt a successful community service. For sure, I went back home feeling happy and satisfied.
